PRODUCTION
The production of Hey Guys mirrors the logic and texture of live streaming in both process and form. We’re embracing a guerrilla approach, using low-budget cameras and minimal equipment instead of traditional cinema-grade setups, allowing us to capture the raw, unfiltered immediacy of real streaming environments. A lean crew (5 with principal cast when shooting in the UK to lessen the need for permits) will support this approach, with key members appearing within the film itself. The two directors, operating cameras throughout, will take on quasi-character roles as Nick’s cameramen, interacting with him in real time, while our producer (armed with volunteer release forms for any non-actors who interact with Nick) will feature as his manager. This embeds the filmmaking team directly into the narrative, dissolving the boundary between production and story world.

NON-ACTORS
SMALL CREW
REAL LOCATIONS
By incorporating the crew into the on-screen reality, we create the sensation of being behind the scenes of a stream as it unfolds, blurring fact and fiction and intensifying immersion. Inspired by the documentary-like authenticity of films such as Paranormal Activity and The Blair Witch Project, this method invites the audience to invest fully in the immediacy and volatility of the experience.
FILMING STYLE
In keeping with the documentary-like quality we aim to achieve, much like the raw realism found in low-budget horror films like Paranormal Activity and The Blair Witch Project, our filmmaking process encourages the audience to fully invest in the authenticity of the experience. By using real locations and incorporating non-actors, particularly members of the public, we can create situations that are spontaneous and unscripted, resulting in genuine reactions.

One of the most important aspects of the film will be capturing the real-time responses of individuals to Nick’s streaming content—whether through surprise, confusion, excitement, or fear—adding a layer of realism that would be hard to achieve with scripted performances alone.
NON-ACTORS

To realise this vision, we’ll collaborate with both trained actors and non-actors, placing them together in unscripted situations where they must respond in real time to Nick’s live streams. These exchanges—carefully shaped yet never rigid—will encourage genuine reactions, allowing performers and members of the public to draw energy from one another and create a truly immersive environment.
This blend of scripted and spontaneous performance, rooted in real locations and real interactions, heightens tension and unpredictability, enriching the authenticity of the film. As directors, we’ll operate the cameras ourselves, making instinctive decisions on the ground and capturing fleeting, unrepeatable moments that would be lost within a more traditional process.
Ultimately, this hybrid approach will ensure that Hey Guys remains grounded in the reality, with both actors and non-actors contributing to the raw, authentic portrayal of the streaming world and its impact on those who interact with it. By blurring the boundaries between performance and reality, we hope to give the audience a truly immersive experience, where the distinction between what’s real and what’s fictional is constantly in flux, keeping them on the edge of their seats throughout the film.

Recent films such as Anora demonstrate the power of this hybrid approach in achieving a rare and visceral realism.
LOCATIONS
Our guerrilla approach and compact crew give us the freedom to move quickly and film across a range of locations at low cost—perfect for reflecting Nick’s escalating journey into online notoriety. In the streaming world, IRL travel is a core part of influencer culture, with creators venturing abroad to chase spectacle, access new audiences, and immerse themselves in unfamiliar environments.

LONDON

MAGALUF

BANGKOK

PRAGUE
We intend to mirror this arc through dynamic shifts in setting: Act One begins in London, before Nick’s fame accelerates and the story explodes outward into Prague, Benidorm, and Bangkok for Act Two, where the tone darkens and his content becomes increasingly chaotic and unhinged. Act Three brings the whirlwind to a confrontational close in Blackpool.
These locations were chosen both for their distinct atmospheres and for the strong local support we can access through personal contacts, ensuring safe, efficient, and responsive production. The result is a kinetic, evolving visual landscape that tracks Nick’s rise and fall with authenticity and momentum.
